Justin I

A military officer of peasant beginnings, Justin I was selected as successor to Anastasius.  He was basically a soldier and left many matters of State to his nephew Justinian I.  This lead to the "Age of Justinian" where most of the previous empire was reacquired and saw the reunification of the Eastern and Western Churches in March of 519..
