Phocas
November 23 602 through October 5 610

Of barbarian descent, Phocas was a military leader that over threw Maurice Tiberius.  His reign, however, was a total disaster, with civil war with the nobelman and having all boundaries of the empire threatened simultaneously.  He followed an orthodox religious policy which made him very popular in Italy, however, this was not enough to stop the revolt of the Heraclii that ultimatly ended with his execution.
